Miranda De Las Calles

Gabriel Pérez (Managua, 1992) is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and cultural manager. He holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Philosophy, and a master's degree in Critical Theory. He researches the art world from an institutional critique perspective.


He has been a guest lecturer at the University of the Arts of Yucatán, the University of Costa Rica, UC Berkeley, the University of Pennsylvania, Trinity University, Puget Sound, Hamilton College, Vassar College, and Haverford College, presenting on Nicaraguan history, social movements, and contemporary Nicaraguan art.


He is part of the Taller Nepantla art collective and a founding member of the Sindicato Imaginario de Yucatán (Imaginary Syndicate of Yucatán). Between 2015 and 2018, he was co-director of the La Rizoma Cultural Center in Nicaragua. He is the author of the book A Critical History of Contemporary Art in Nicaragua (2025). He is currently in exile in Mérida, Yucatán, and is a consultant for migrant rights organizations and coordinator of the Central American Drop for the Central American news outlet Hora Cero.
